About the work
In front of me, a young Japanese couple, just married.
She’s sitting still, almost like a porcelain doll — barely moving, eyes lowered.
Her kimono hides everything… and yet, her shyness reveals more than skin ever could.
He looks at her like she’s sacred.
She murmurs:
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
He smiles — that foolish, blissful smile of new desire.
And I, watching them, think:
Once, a man looked at me too — not through silk or layers, but through my bare truth.
No shame, no veil.
He kissed where doubt lived.
I became natural.
Not shy anymore.
Just... me.
