Motto: “Oh, if only I was sure that my head on the door was a dream.” — The Cure (1985)

Description:

Legacy In Neon – Close to Me (After the Tide) reimagines the echo of The Cure’s iconic Close to Me video (1985).

In the original, a wardrobe with the band inside, playing the song, falls from a cliff and sinks into the sea—a claustrophobic dream collapsing into water. Years later, the Mixed Up version continues the story beneath the waves, where the melody survives in a place where air cannot reach.

This illustration imagines what the ocean might return to the shore long after, as if time itself had dissolved.

A toy piano, a comb, a starfish—three small survivors of the storm. Objects that once vibrated with sound now rest in silence under the moon, glistening with salt and memory. The sea is calm, as if exhausted. The night, clear, as if listening.

What endures is not the fall nor the chaos, but the echo:

the fragile, colorful remains of a song that refused to drown, a melody destined to return even when I am no longer here to listen to it.

Descripción:

Legacy In Neon – Close to Me (After the Tide) reimagina el eco del icónico videoclip Close to Me de The Cure (1985).

REFLECTIONS (2011) - Hoy he visto algo... / Today I have seen something
REFLECTIONS (2011) Reflexiones, prosa & escritos. HOY HE VISTO ALGO... ──────────────────── REFLECTIONS (2011) Reflections, prose & writings. TODAY I HAVE SEEN SOMETHING... English version A radiant day where the sun’s rays caress and warm my skin. A wheat field. Ears of grain forming a golden sea. Their tips sway with the gentle wind, letting a whisper be heard as they brush against one another. I breathe life. I look at the horizon where the amber ends and the blue begins. I wonder who conceived all of this. How everything is placed exactly where it belongs, creating a balance with no room for hesitation. I nod to myself, acknowledging the luck of being here to witness it. I am already satisfied. This moment is enough to know that it has all been worth it. Now let me be carried, like a leaf swayed by the air. I don’t understand what I feel, but I know that the shiver that accompanies me is the result of something sublime behind it. Life again. I breathe in the source that enraptures my senses, unable to explain how something can be so captivating. ...Why a frisson runs through me from head to toe and I hear my own breathing. I smile as a gesture of gratitude for being able to understand a small part, even though I know I will never comprehend the rest. I am certain that today I have seen something divine... © 2011–2026 Arturo Hernández Santodomingo
