Young Tanit faces the greatest challenge anyone could ever encounter: ruling an empire of more than two billion beings belonging to 39 intelligent species, each with its own problems, mentalities, and civilizations.
Can she be liked by everyone? Although voluntarily chosen by each of the species, if just one in a million hates her, she still has more than two million enemies. The bad news is that there are likely to be many more.
Someone is assembling a fleet, and it can't be for trade. To make matters worse, they will attempt to take her life, mortally wounding her loved ones.
