About the work
Oliver Codrington Gill, was born enslaved on the Codrington sugar plantation in 1655, and had since then remained alive, experiencing strange cycles of aging and age regression. Oliver first noticed the signs in 1690, when scars he had for over a decade just suddenly vanished, then reappeared again 1697. In 1711 the scars vanished again, causing Oliver to start a record journal of his changes. Though he was now 56 years old, he physically appeared like his 35-year-old self, with just two grey hairs pronounced in has beard. It was only until the mid to late 1700s that he began to grasp the dynamic cyclical nature of his condition. During this time, Oliver was forced to develop strategies to allow these changes to go unnoticed.
