About the work

This guide from the Formación Prevé program supports early elementary students in developing identity and overall well-being. Children explore who they are, recognize their qualities, and understand the importance of family as their first core group. In the emotional area, they learn to identify the six basic emotions—joy, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, and disgust—and recognize how these emotions manifest in their bodies. They are taught tools to regulate intense emotions, such as anger, using the "volcano" metaphor, as well as conscious breathing and imagination to face fears and cultivate happiness in everyday life. In the area of health, the guide promotes responsible decision-making, helping children distinguish between what benefits them and what harms them. It addresses balanced nutrition, brain care, and identifying risky situations to foster self-care. Finally, in communication and socialization, students learn to set boundaries assertively, recognize dangerous situations, and value their own qualities and those of others, strengthening their sense of community and mutual respect within the classroom.
