Echoes of the Trail

About the work

Stone towers watched us, shadows at noon,
We traced the rivers, we followed the moon.
Hands full of stories, dust on our skin,
Laughing through ruins we should not have been.

Maps were just guesses, the paths were our own,
Every lost village felt like home.

Echoes of the trail, they call me still,
Down broken roads, past every hill.
Where we were brothers, hearts unchained
Before the silence, before the change.

We built our kingdoms in branches and light,
Swore we'd return, swore we'd fight.
But seasons drift, and names fade fast,
Only the echoes seem to last.

The fire is gone, but warmth remains,
Etched in the bark, soaked in the rain.

Echoes of the trail, they call me still,
Down broken roads, past every hill.
Where we were brothers, hearts unchained
Before the silence, before the change.

Echoes of the trail, carved in stone,
I walk them now, but alone.
A name, a voice, a fading flame
But still it burns, still speaks your name.
