In the Uruguayan countryside, Netta, married to the handsome and wealthy Dorian, lives a life of luxury but feels a persistent emptiness. Hoping to find belonging, she embraces Dorian’s church, only to discover its controlling influence over her life including the doctor she sees during her pregnancy. When disturbing visions lead her to suspect something is wrong with her baby, she investigates with her neighbor and uncovers the church’s dark secrets.
Dorian, desperate to regain his late father’s favor, genetically modifies their child to be an exact replica of his father. When Netta gets too close to the truth, he imprisons her. She gives birth to the monstrous clone, escapes with her neighbor, and survives an attempt on her life by Dorian and his reverend. The reverend dies accidentally, leaving Dorian alone with the abomination, while Netta and her neighbor start a new life, free from the church’s influence.
