A sweet incident is the reason why Rosario, unaware of this tradition, gives her handkerchief to Captain Joaquín and changes her destiny.
Rosario is forced into marriage, receiving a cruel punishment for her refusal. Joaquín obeys his father’s command to marry, persuaded by his lover’s promise that they will continue to see each other.
