About the work
LYRICS:
The explorer
admiring statues of chalk and salt,
perfect shapes that hold no breath,
you praise the surface, by default.
Floating with your snorkel,
your little rubber duck in tow,
drifting on the Mariana's rim,
unaware of what's below.
Beneath the bright and gentle blue,
there’s a world you never knew—
a flickering light, a haunting face,
a creature beautiful and true.
Mystical, cold, terrifying,
sacred, almost surreal,
it calls to you in silence,
from a depth you’ve yet to feel.
But you'd have to let go,
leave the shallow behind.
Dive in with no anchor,
no safety to find.
It’s not fear of me,
not fear to feel…
It’s fear of the mirror
and the truth it reveals.
You are the bird in the sky,
but the beast in the deep.
And it’s not the monster
that keeps you from sleep—
It’s the fire in its eyes,
reflecting your sun,
and the truth in its silence
that you cannot outrun.
Still you play in safe waters,
charmed by lifeless stone,
seduced by the outlines
of a world not your own.
Everything you know
lives and dies in the light—
but what calls you now
lives far from sight.
You'd have to surrender,
to unlearn and explore.
To break all your patterns,
to become something more.
It’s not fear of love,
it’s fear to admit—
you’re more abyss
than the shore you won’t quit.
And Diso… he knows.
He always has.
But still he smiles
at surface masks.
