A Griffin kidnaps Lilibeth, a beautiful goblin with whom Pinkus is secretly in love. Following the advice of his mentor, the venerable Skropius, Pinkus sets out in search of her. At nightfall, a Fatuous Fire guides Pinkus to a carnivorous elm tree inhabited by a beautiful Wood Nympt. The goblin saves her life at the last moment thanks to his cunning. Pinkus arrives at the castle of Margrath, inhabited by the Great Wizard Brandil, former colleague of his master Skropius. Before entering, he is about to be devoured by Snoremount, an ogre who is the guardian of the castle. The Great Magician Brandil shows Pinkus, in a crystal ball, the place where Lilibeth is imprisoned: the Eagle's Leap, a waterfall located several days' walk away. By order of the wizard, Snoremount accompanies Pinkus on his journey. On the way to Eagle's Leap, the ogre and the goblin discover a cave inhabited by an ogress named Rrooagh. Pinkus manages to bring the two together. Satisfied, the goblin continues his journey alone. Pinkus finally arrives at his destination: the Eagle's Leap. Thanks to his cunning, he manages to rescue Lilibeth. Soon after, the Griffin is about to catch them, but an Otter saves their lives. One night, a group of Dwarves kidnap Lilibeth. Pinkus manages to save her, once again. Along the way, Pinkus and Lilibeth are reunited with the Ogres and the Great Wizard Brandil, who accompany them back to the forest where the goblins live. Once there, a great ball is held in honor of the new arrivals.
