About the work
This is the concept of a pop-up card that opens and closes, forming a winking-eye effect. The card is created by gluing two cards, A and B, as shown in the picture. In the example, we have the face of a cat, but it can be the face of any other animal, human, or any other creature with eyes. Card A has no cuts, and in the image, the cat’s eye is open. Card B has three cuts, and in the image, the cat’s eye is shut. Card A and Card B are superimposed and glued to form a single pop-up card that, by opening and closing, creates the image of a winking eye (we can see the open eye on Card A through the open cut of Card B). This concept can also be used to create the effect of a mouth or lips opening.
