About the work

THE TENT. Pitch the artist in the middle of the place
Residency Project
Places of culture – libraries, museums, parks, collections, botanical gardens, etc. – are complex hubs of stories, information, connections and emotions that while rooted in the past ask to be connected to the contemporary in order to continue to live and be attractive.
Art brings out values and meanings that are not immediately visible, uncovers unexpected relationships, frees place from the inertia of the usual, regenerates public interest, recasts its origins in the contemporary, and unveils neglected or profound dimensions.

What is THE TENT?
The Tent is a program of art residencies that take place within public and private places.
Just as in 1922 the anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski pitched his tent within the village in the Trobriand Islands, so the artist in The Tent residency will make the place his artistic research ground for about a week, staying overnight in the tent and working in the spaces allocated to him.
Artists will be selected by the curators in consultation with the patrons.
During the residency, the artist will connect with the environment, explore the heritage around them, use archival and bibliographic resources, and be able to interact with the institution's staff and visitors.
During the residency, the artist will be able to create performances, soundscapes, and works with techniques and languages of his or her choice, and the project will conclude with restitution actions to be agreed upon with the client.
