About the work

Cassandra is a pseudo-monologue for an actress and a dancer. It is an experimental piece of new writing.
Cassandra is a woman whose highest ideal is freedom, and the practical exercise of freedom is to be free to express herself through her art. She is 30 and she feels that she has achieved her goals: she is a recognised painter and the value of her work on the art market is growing. She is married to Gabriele, they have a big cat called Sphinx, and their life seems to be set.
In the frame of the monologue, Cassandra is lying on a hospital bed: she has just waken up after giving birth, and she is waiting for the nurse to bring her her child, hoping she is safe and well. Cassandra is blind now, but she wasn’t until some months earlier. In the waiting time, she tells the story of the day she discovered that her child was a girl, and that her husband was betraying her by intervening in her artistic career and success.
