About the work
Rusty Steel and Angus McFarlin are in charge of getting the gold from the furs they sold at the Rendezvous back home safe and sound. Two thousand dollars in gold coins are in their leather pouches. The problem is that every crook and thief at the meet is tracking down and robbing the trappers who made big money and raced against time to get home before they were killed and their treasure stolen. Will the two aging mountain men return to their compound high in the Rocky Mountains safely? Or will they, too, be robbed along the way like many and die like their friends Pete, Bob, and Sam?
Levi Johnson, his wife Dahteste, Virgil Lovejoy, and Captain Will Forrester sign on with Kansas Sheriff Joseph Walker to work as scouts to take a group of twenty missionaries across Wyoming and onward to Oregon City. In their way are a large group of Shoshone warriors who intend on stopping the trespassers. That and the rugged country threatened to thwart their intentions and stop them from crossing on what would come to be known as the Oregon Trail.
Betty, the niece of the famous frontiersman Davy Crocket from the Alamo, falls in love with Captain Forrester. Will she achieve her goal and make him fall in love with her, too, or are his demons too many for her to overcome?
