About the work
Levi Johnson and Will Forrester go trapping alone in the Rocky Mountains. The first snow has fallen, and everything is white as temperatures begin to drop. Due to the threat of fewer beaver pelts harvested during the coming winter, they explore deeper into the mountains and valleys. They find a large spring with enough overflow to create several creeks. They were abundant with beaver. With their mules stacked high with furs, they return to the compound excited to tell their new friends and mentors about their accomplishments. It was going to be a busy winter trapping.
A single soldier rides up the mountain like he owns the place. He trespasses without any consideration for those who occupy the land. Confidence and even a little arrogance is chiseled on his face. The US Cavalry major rides into the mountain men’s compound uninvited. He claims he is searching for a friend. Despite his unwelcome greeting, he ignores a barrage of sass from Rusty Steel and his friends. How would the mountain men’s world change by the unexpected visit?
