HUMAN UPDATING
Updating knowledge
that will change our beliefs and our lives
Einstein, Planck, Bohr, Hawking, Heisenberg, Lynn Margulis, Lisa Feldman, Freud, Jung, Piaget, Berger & Luckmann, Bourdieu & Passeron and many other contemporaries have pushed the boundaries of science and changed the paradigm about what physical, social and individual reality is like in which we live immersed.
Updating our scientific knowledge according to this new paradigm will allow us to know the subtle nature of physical reality; how our beliefs are formed; the keys to the success of our learning; why emotions and the unconscious are the main activators of our behavior and not reason or will. It will be possible to understand the scientific basis for the absence of free will. We will be able to see that collaboration and not competition has been the key to human evolution and also for the rest of the species.
We need to update educational content, informative explanations and also our individual and social behavior, implementing this new knowledge in our daily lives. Using a computer simile, we have software updates, but we do not install them on our computer and we keep it running with obsolete programs.
With this obsolete version of reality, we expel wonder from our lives and invite ourselves to depression, to explain to ourselves that we and what surrounds us is as little as what our instruments can see and measure. However, it turns out that it is not; that, as contemporary science shows us, the universe to which we belong is unfathomable and even difficult for our rational mind to comprehend. It is easy to intuit that, if we are part of this universe, it means that we are just like it, and that it is therefore up to us to reset our gaze and bring wonder back into our daily lives.
Beliefs are one of the most conditioning factors of our behavior. Some of them are formed unconsciously in the first years of our life and it is difficult to modify them. Others, nevertheless, are formed later and consciously, reason why they do not remain so engraved to fire as the first ones and we can modify them. Part of the beliefs about the physical, social and individual reality belong to this second group.
If we update and integrate, in our daily life, new knowledge about these three realities, our beliefs will be modified and these in turn will modify our attitude and consequently how we live reality will be modified.
We humans have a wonderful opportunity for change, which for the first time in our history may lead us to an unprecedented evolutionary leap or to our extinction. This change will involve substantial upgrades in areas as diverse as education, medicine and health, food, industry, social organization and the legal system. Welcome back to the wonder and the possibility of building a new social paradigm.
In order that the content of Human Updating can be understood by many people, I have prioritized the final syntheses rather than presenting theoretical justifications and continuous notes, with their respective bibliographical references.
