About the work
A flute was given to a child by his grandfather before he died. The child plays his flute and he is heard by a dog, a cat, and a rat. The three animals are enchanted by his music. The grandmother throws his flute away because the music bothers her and their neighbors; the boy falls into very deep sadness. The dog, the cat, and the rat seek the help on an owl to have a flute made for the child. The child is happy again, he has a new flute and he has new friends.
