About the work
Four performers - a Strong Man, a Bearded Lady, a Trapezist and a Clown - run away from the circus in search of safety, the lion tamer hot on their heels. Sheltering from a storm, they stumble upon a public house, only to discover the landlord is an alchemist with an elixir to transmute physical matter.
When the lion tamer catches up with the Runaways and tries to wrangle them back, the ability to transport themselves proves a nifty escape tactic - at least until the lion tamer steals the rest of the elixir. To make more is going to take time, so to keep them safe the alchemist enforces a lock-in at the pub.
But it’s not long before the Runaways are (quite literally) running up the walls!
