Following the very public suicide death of her twin brother, Maya Shroeder relocates with her husband and son from New York City to a remote village in Northern Bavaria. Maya hopes to find, in this forgotten place, quiet and stability.
The family moves into a farmhouse that has been in her husband’s family for over a century. At the edge of the farmhouse property is a cottage where Swain the caretaker (think Lenny from Of Mice and Men) lives with his elderly mother. Despite cultural and language barriers, Maya and Swain form a deep and unlikely friendship.
Instead of finding peace Maya is desperate for, Maya becomes entwined in the search for a missing infant and battles to clear the name of the crime’s main suspect… Swain.
