El concepto de libertarse de la esclavitud egipcia se refiere más a una liberación de la conciencia interna del ser humano; igual es liberarse de las cadenas físicas de un opresor concreto.
El Zohar (en idioma hebreo זהר Zohar, "esplendor"- el libro místico de los judíos) afirmaba que lo que estaba ocurriendo en Egipto era la perpetuación del deseo de estar recibiendo migajas en perpetuidad por parte del opresor.

Evil, or the energy of darkness, opposes the Creator's Light Force.
