About the work
Needle-felted animal ear accessories. The headband part is relatively flat, about 1-2 Inches wide for a doll with a 10-inch head circumference. The ear design is somewhat realistic, the early version was less realistic due to beginner skill level, but the aim of the design was realism. The original version was connected with elastic and had 2 buttons, 1 on each side, where the elastic was sewn to the felt headband. My design evolved to where I now use ribbon ties instead of elastic, there is a thin piece of plastic on the under-side for support for the antlers, and it is covered with a wide silk ribbon. The Design now often features flowers beside the ears. There is a hair-pin version of the felted ears as well, there is no band connecting them, but instead a decorative chain.
