About the work
Moitié is an iconic table lamp using reflection as a key part of the design.
It’s got a dynamic aspect: depending on the angle of view, the vision of the lamp varies and there is a feeling of depth. The mirror reflects the half silhouette and creates the full shape. After several shape tests, we ended up with the common table lamp form that everybody can recognise.
The lamp is made of three components and three materials: a half cylinder wooden base, a mirror with integrated light sources in the back and an opalescent tube that diffuses the light. They are assembled easily and all three are planar elements, making the lamp appropriate for a flat packaging.
