About the work
Skürd is a combined, concocted portrait of Azechi Reiko and the popular manga character, Skuld. With this I am trying to draw a thin line between the real and the surreal.
I was really attracted to this innocent, but timid quality of Reiko and thought she would be perfect for portraying a real-world, slightly older version of Skuld. However, I have taken a lot of liberties with this approach and the final work doesn't really portray Skuld exactly.
